About Therapy

What can you expect when we work together?

No Judgment

My clients are all dealing with extremely painful circumstances that evoke a lot of shame.

These aren’t things about which they even talk to their close friends—let alone someone they found on the internet who claims they can help—someone they’ve never met… someone to whom they’re really nervous about talking (that’s me, your prospective therapist).

You won’t experience an ounce of judgement when you come to my office.

All behavior makes sense when we know the story behind it. If we are looking at a behavior or situation that doesn’t make sense to you, it’s because we need to know more of your story—and we will.

So, whether we are working together to help you heal from addiction, betrayal, relationship issues, or all three…

We’ll get to know your story safely and respectfully.

Real Conversations, Real Feedback

I am going to see you, accurately and deeply.

Being seen like this may be uncomfortable at first. We’ll take it slow and you will be able to get familiar with me as we build that feeling of trust.

When you are ready, we’ll talk about what matters—even if it’s hard. When you’re ready, I will give you direct feedback—feedback that will be useful to you.

A Safe Space to Feel Supported

Many people have friends who are nothing but positive and supportive.

But when you are neck-deep in unhelpful patterns… or a relationship that confuses and hurts you, positive support can feel… unsupportive.

Many people don’t know how to hold space for you when you are angry or confused. I do and I will.

You will feel supported by my seeing your blind spots, because you will feel that I’m firmly on your team.

Moving Away from Fear

How are you going to cope long-term if you are terrified about making a mistake or slipping back to old behavior?

At first, fear might be your main motivation, and it will probably get you somewhere. But compassion, curiosity, and thoughtfulness are going to be much more useful to you in the long-run.

We will work to develop these traits within you so that you can fundamentally feel different in the life you are living.

Practical Tools and Solutions

Nothing changes unless it changes. Change isn’t a process that begins and ends with wanting it.

You will be able to learn and use the right tools at the right time to help you make the long-term changes for which you are longing.

You and your life will be different, and it won’t be a mystery to you how you got there.

About Me

Professional Background and Connections

I set out to become a sex addiction and relationship therapist over 10 years ago. I would say I “felt the call,” and that drum beat has continued loudly and consistently ever since.

I have trained with and stay connected to organizations that help me to be the best I can be at my job. These organizations include the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP), the Gottman Institute , and the EMDR Institute.

I love attending conferences and trainings that help me hone my skills in working with people who are wrapped up in painful situations related to addiction, trauma, and relationships.

When I’m Not at Work

I feed my soul with hiking and mountain biking.

My family and my dog are my favorite parts of going home each night and the weekend.

I love music with a strong beat and lots of feeling.

I count myself as very lucky to be doing something with my career that I am passionate about and absolutely believe in.
