Hi, I’m Alicia Taylor

I have had a few careers in my life but finally feel like I’m in the space that feels most fulfilling and enjoyable to me. I was drawn to counseling because I believe that the pain we experience can have a purpose if we let it. Too often we believe that we have to carry our pain alone which leaves us feeling stuck and frustrated. I don’t think it’s ever too late to make changes and that with the right support you can discover the strengths necessary to make those changes. I have benefited greatly from seeking mental health support and know its power firsthand.

I am passionate about working on body image issues including disordered eating. I want to be part of breaking down the façade that our culture builds around the pursuit of physical perfection. I have run a body image therapy group which was a great space for women to come and feel validated and understood when it comes to physical insecurities. I really enjoy the format of a group where members can support each other and find shared meaning and motivation. I plan to make groups a regular part of the work I do.

I also really enjoy couples work and believe that despite individual challenges when the couple comes together with a goal to make it work, amazing things can happen for not only the relationship but for the individuals as they learn to find shared meaning and the importance of supporting each other to be their best selves.

In both my personal and professional life I believe that laughing and humor is a healthy way to deal with hard things and whenever I have had a hard day I try to find something to watch that I know will make me laugh. I have worked to surround myself with funny people and can proudly say I have accomplished that goal.

I am an extroverted introvert. My bucket is filled when I spend quality time with people preferably in small groups. I love to read, historical novels tend to be my favorite. The mountains always feel like home to me and I feel so lucky to live at the foot of them. I love music and feel the coolest when I am dancing at a concert of a band I love.. (feeling cool is not the same thing as looking cool.) My favorite thing is hanging with my family and dogs at home,

I am so excited to be engaging in a work that is literally life-changing. It has been for me, and I believe it can be for you too!
